Accommodation – Stay & Play Policy

The event will be working with a mandatory Stay & Play policy.

The policy states that in order to participate in a particular event all teams are required to book a minimum of two nights in hotel rooms in one of several tournament-approved hotels. Failure to do such a thing will result in a financial penalty of € 70 per player (two nights).

A Stay and Play policy is among the most effective tools we have to ensure overall event quality. One of the main reasons cities bid on sporting events like ours is because of the positive economic impact they have on their area. A big driver of economic impact is hotel nights. By having a Stay and Play policy, Quidditch Europe is able to guarantee host cities that our events will have a tangible effect on local businesses within their service area. It encourages greater city support of our events in terms of both amenities and financial contribution. This commitment of room blocks also increases the number of potential hosts that are likely to submit bids. Lastly, a Stay to Play policy leads to lower rates for teams on hotel packages.

The main organising partner (Maurizio Argetta) arranged conventions with local 3, 4 and even 5 star hotels. The deal? €35 per person per night, including breakfast each morning.

  • Hotel Master (via Luigi Apollonio 72, 25128 Brescia BS) – €65 €35
  • Hotel Vittoria (via Dieci Giornate 20, 25121 Brescia BS) – €159 €35
  • Hotel Igea (viale della Stazione 12/A, 25122 Brescia BS) – €75 €35
  • Hotel Regal Residence (viale Europa 2/b, 25124 Brescia BS) – €50 €35 (Only offers apartments)

Within this Stay & Place policy we also offer a low-cost option to teams that are financially struggling, at the Cascina Maggia (via della Maggia 3, 25124 Brescia BS). However, there is only room for two teams and in order to set this deal, no other team could accommodate there. If you are a team that is financially limited, please reach out to us through d2@eqc2020.org

Getting to Brescia

There are four airports close to Brescia: Milano Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY), Verona (VRN), Milano Linate (LIN) and Milano Malpensa (MXP).

Option A (recommended)

Milano Bergamo (BGY) is the closest airport to Brescia. A lot of Ryanair’s flights land here, so probably BGY is the cheapest option.

If you land in Milano Bergamo (BGY) Airport (Orio al Serio), you will have different options:

1. By shuttle bus (airport -> Brescia): to reach Brescia, you can take the shuttle bus (timetable here) which takes you to SIA bus station. Tickets available at Autostradale.it point in BGY or at the following link.

2. By train (airport -> Bergamo -> Brescia): once at the airport, take the city bus to Bergamo’s train station (line 1, tickets available at the ATB point in BGY or with the ATB Mobile app). Once here, you will be able to reach Brescia by train

Option B

If you land in Verona (VRN) take the bus towards Verona Porta Nuova railway station (info here. Tickets available here or on the bus (without overprice)). From there, take the train for Brescia (tickets and time-tables on these websites: Trenitalia or Italo. Trenitalia manages regional trains, so it has cheaper options).

Option C

If you land in Milano Linate (LIN) there is a shuttle bus that brings you to Milano Centrale railway station (tickets available at LIN airport or at the following link). After that, you could easily take a train for Brescia (tickets and time-tables on these websites: Trenitalia or Italo. Trenitalia manages regional trains, so it has cheaper options).

Option D (not recommended)

If you land in Milano Malpensa (MXP) you have to reach Milano Centrale railway station either by bus (timetable here) or by train (timetable and tickets here). After that, you could easily take a train for Brescia (tickets and time-tables on these websites: Trenitalia or Italo. Trenitalia manages regional trains, so it has cheaper options).

GoOpti

Finally, if you travel in a group, you can rent minivans (which are very cheap if you are a group of 8) at this website. They can pick you up from airports and bring you around the city or to the accommodation or the venue too. Luggage is included.

Getting around in Brescia

Public Transit
With a normal ticket, you can do every ride that you want (bus and subway) for 90 minutes since validation of the ticket. Same for 10 rides ticket: if you use bus and then you use another bus or the subway, you don’t need to buy another ticket (if the ticket is still valid). Tickets are available in almost every kiosk and coffee bar.
